Minky Changing Pad Covers
I have used a LOT of soft soles shoes for my babies through the years. What I wanted this time was a specific color, in a size larger than 18 months and a decent price. Only 2 different shoes made those requirements and I opted for the Owlowla because they had good reviews and looked better in the picture. I *almost* opted for the others because they were $5 cheaper but the color looked so much better in the Owlowla pictures.I am soooo glad I got these shoes. It is sometimes the details that make the difference. These shoes are soft and then the inside is even softer. They are so lovely. I know I should have read the fine print but these were only going to be church shoes so the above criteria were more important than real leather. But once I felt how soft these were AND they smelled of real leather I read the insert. I don’t know how you can get an eco friendly real leather that is so soft in this price range. The elastic isn’t too stiff so they’re easy to put on but stay put. And I know this is a little thing to some but I love that the tag on back isn’t a blatant advertisement but instead lists the size. This is incredibly convenient if you buy multiple shoes in different sizes in a sale or if you hand down or resell your shoes. They seemed to be a perfect fit to what I expected. I love that they come in sizes bigger than 12 or 18 months. The color is gorgeous. The construction is sturdy and definitely comparable to other brands. I have not washed them yet so cannot comment yet on long term use but I will update when I can.Only reason I gave 4 stars is more a wish than anything as none of the brands do this, even the pricey brands unless you buy ones with rubber insets, however, in bigger sizes the leather bottoms can be slippery. A strip of something non skid would be so nice even if just 2 strips (one on the heel and one on the toe). This isn’t something that is typically available on shoes like this though so I certainly don’t fault them for missing it. I just reserve 5 stars for my dream product and that would be my dream.

Good for: A plush, dotted surface that stays soft through regular washing, on covers, bassinet sheets and the double-layer blanket.
The trade-off: It is the warmest fabric here. For a hot nursery, muslin is the lighter choice.
Minky Changing Pad CoversGood for: Open cotton gauze that breathes and gets softer as you wash it.
The trade-off: Fresh out of the pack it can feel thin and a little crisp. One parent compared it to linen.
Muslin Swaddle Blankets, Two-PackGood for: Rayon with a little spandex, so a swaddle stretches around a newborn and holds its shape.
The trade-off: It is a thin knit by design. Thin is what pediatricians ask for in a swaddle, so do not layer two.
Large Swaddle Blanket and Hat SetGood for: Genuine leather uppers on a suede sole, soft enough to fold in half.
The trade-off: Wipe with a damp cloth. The machine will ruin them.
Soft Sole Leather Baby ShoesGood for: A smooth synthetic surface you wipe after a leak instead of washing the whole cover.
The trade-off: It feels like a mat, not like cloth. Parents who want softness under the baby pick minky or muslin.

Shop baby shoesSome of what we make sits close to a sleeping baby, so here is the short version of what pediatricians and the federal safety agency ask of parents.
The Owlowla story
Owlowla began in 2018 with a single changing pad cover: minky, dotted on one side, cut to fit the 16 by 32 inch pad that sits on most changing tables. We wanted something a tired parent could pull off, wash and put back in under a minute.
The bassinet sheet came next, in the same fabric and the same row of colors. The people behind Owlowla come from families that designed and sourced baby bedding for years, and that is still the part of the nursery we know best.
A nursery changes faster than anyone expects. The crib moves, a second baby arrives, the walls get painted. So most Owlowla prints are quiet: grey, sand, sage, blush, cream, a floral that works in any room.
Before a new print goes out, we put it on an ordinary changing pad and wash it more than once. If the elastic loosens or the color runs, it does not make the range.
A lounger cover will not make a lounger safe for sleep. A thin knit swaddle is not a blanket for the crib. Muslin can feel crisp before its first wash. We would rather you know that before you order than after.
It is also why every line on this page shows its own rating and the number of people behind it. A score means more when you can see who gave it.
The leather shoes follow the same idea. Soft uppers, a suede sole that bends in half and an elastic ankle that stays on a kicking foot. They are for crawling, cruising and first steps indoors, not for running on concrete.
Sizes run from newborn to 24 months. The age on the box is a guide, and the foot in front of you is the real answer, so measure it.
Every Owlowla changing pad cover is cut for the standard 16 by 32 inch pad, up to about 5 inches deep. Measure your pad's top surface before you order. A pad that is larger or square will not fit.
No. The federal safety agency says never to use nursing pillows or infant loungers for sleep or naps. If your baby falls asleep while feeding, move them to a crib, bassinet or play yard with nothing but a fitted sheet.
As soon as your baby shows any sign of trying to roll over. The AAP notes that some babies start working on rolling as early as two months.
Use the age as a starting point and then measure the foot. The AAP suggests leaving about a finger's width between the big toe and the inside edge of the shoe, and checking the fit about once a month.
